‘Time to Talk’ – Textile Exchange Pre-conference Cotton Dialogues – EVENT

Liesl Truscott the Director of The Textile Exchange Farm Engagement featured as a panelist at the successful Africa Fashion Guide ‘Fashion Africa’ book launch event last Friday 9th September. She shared her knowledge on cotton farming, sustainable and organic textiles at the launch panel under the topic of ‘Ethical Fashion’. The Textile Exchange Farm Engagement program helps organic cotton producers build business capacity, access sustainable textile markets, and links brands, retailers and manufacturers seeking organic cotton. They have also revealed their online marketplace for the exchange of organic cotton (fiber, cotton products, and other farm products) called Trading Post where cotton producer groups are able to actively market their cotton availability in real-time – and those interested in purchasing goods can search availability or post a notice expressing their interest.

Ahead of the TE Sustainable Textiles conference (19-20 September 2011) will be their Pre-conference cotton dialogues, Sunday September 18th at 10am in Barcelona, Spain, jointly hosted by Textile Exchange and HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation. Cotton dialogues will provide the opportunity for the www.organiccotton.org virtual organic cotton community to take part in face-to-face meetings and help improve the future sustainability of organic cotton production and trade through dynamic discussion. Three ’roundtable discussions’ are being planned for the day to be facilitated by world experts.
