Pichulik’s Woven Jewellery Ropes In Success With The Newly Released AW/13 Collection

The creative force & designer behind the extraordinary jewellery line Pichulik releases her new AW/13 collection. Katherine- Mary Pichulik from Cape Town South Africa founded the accessory brand in 2012, which is known for its signature woven detail. The surreal- like statement jewellery pieces are made from collected local materials, beautifully crafted with the twist of bold coloured threads and the embellishment of coral, glass cuts and brass pieces. The gold twisted threads and the use of  bright colours; white and yellow against the woven black zig-zag weaves, demonstrates strong  influences from Africa and the Middle East. The nine- piece collection shows no creative limitation to its design and shows clear resemblances of African braiding in a wearable form. Pichulik’s jewellery statement pieces show strength in the use of vivid colours giving the collection its bold and eclectic appeal.

Since its launch, the brand has made its presence both on the runway and in print. Pichulik  joined forces with African fashion brand Lalesso, which led to their accessory collaboration. The collection included a duffel bag, a purse and a fold-over clutch – a marriage between the Lalesso  Khanga fabrics with the Pichulik signature ropes and accessories. The Lalesso X Pichulik marriage began when Lalesso invited Pichulik to create the neck pieces for their much anticipated Spring Summer 2013 Collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Cape Town. Africa Fashion Guide featured the article Lalesso Colabs With Pichulik To Present Bag Collection last November about the birth of their bag collaboration Lalesso X Pichulik. We also visited the Loin Cloth & Ashes store in Johannesburg South Africa to view Pichulik’s collection up close and personal.

Pichulik also gained further exposure with style icon Solange Knowles wearing her bangles in Elle South Africa cover shoot in 2012.

We are in love with Pichulik’s show stopping AW13 collection and we are very hopeful and excited to see more quirky interesting pieces in future collections to come. AFG salute Pichulik’s fab collection.
