With inspiration from different corners of the vibrant continent – Mogadishu, Pretoria, Cairo, Cape Town, Kigali, etc. – the Austrian designer Lena Hoschek, has put together the fabulous, eye-catching Summer Spring collection – HOT MAMA AFRICA.
With pieces made from colourful, traditional African wax-print with intense colour combinations and bold patterns, the collection draws attention to the feminine silhouette of the 1950s and 60s. Lena Hoschek completes the head-to-toe look with fine fabrics, a hint of 1970s safari style, the wax-print shoes and the vivacious head wraps. Intense, confident, bold – that’s Summer 2015 à la Hoschek!
Inspired by Africa’s people, its wildlife and scenery, with this spring / summer 2015 “HOT MAMA AFRICA” collection, Lena Hoschek will be giving back through her support for a charity project. For every piece sold, €2 will be donated to “SWAP – Safe Water and AIDS Project”.
Since 2005 this charity has been active in Kenya, where it helps to provide clean drinking water and to improve health and hygiene standards for people living with HIV and AIDS. Coupled with measures to help de-stigmatise those affected, the project contributes greatly to successful treatment. At the 2014 Life Ball, SWAP was awarded the “Crystal of Hope Award”, donated by Swarovski, for its pioneering work.
