How I Made it in Africa and how YOU can too!
This quote below I heard from an industry leader that I highly respect, and it sums this up exactly what i did in just a few words.
“First you have to find the biggest pain points and problems in your niche within your target market and position yourself as having found a unique/better/different way to solve those problems” Dr Harnet
I now want to share with you my journey with you on how i found the pain points in this industry and how I positioned myself.
BUT, I will be honest with you.
I started Africa Fashion Guide firstly in my mind in 2009 and then launched it officially in 2011, and even though I am invited to talk as an expert, and teach too, all around the world from New York, USA, to Lome in Togo, to Trento in Italy to London, UK, on the subject of ethical fashion and fashion made in Africa, I admittedly have easily shied away from talking about ME and my HOW and my WHY to explain why I started this journey and how I got to where I am today.
When I received an invite to speak next week at the Cambridge University Africa Business Conference and to sit alongside speakers from Goldman Sachs to Ecobank to Ozwald Boateng OBE himself, it made me reflect back. Now, I have spoken at various esteemed venues such as the House of Lords through to the European Commission but this particular invite just made me think.
It was time to share my story and encourage and help direct others who are just like me, passionate to do business in Africa, impact lives and make a difference. And a FREE webinar in todays digital market place seemed the most fitting space to do that in.
Being invited to Cambridge uni told me that not only did I have a story to tell, but that it was important to others at a particular industry level to hear it too.
Starting Africa Fashion Guide I recall saying to myself, “Girl, you can not start this business in such a place as the so called ‘Dark Continent’ with all the perceptions around it, and then talk to and consult brands on sourcing and manufacturing there, if you haven’t been there OR have yet to do it yourself.”
So I went out, and did it.
I am telling you this because I wish to assure you that we at AFG have an understanding and can support your business aims, because it started with the leadership – myself – who has gone before and have done it. So right now I would like to tell you exactly how and to show you how you too can make it (literally) in Africa too.
I am inviting you to a FREE 40minute webinar where I will share my journey and share some key tips on what you can do, right now to jumpstart your fashion made in Africa business today.
