How Africa’s new free trade agreement is going to UP your business!

It’s that time of the week where I hold my weekly  FASHION BUSINESS FRIDAY series I want to briefly share with you here about an important topic for your business. I do these live in our Fashion in Five Facebook live series every Tuesday next week on our Facebook page and group. So do make sure to show up on those days 7pm every Tuesday – watch this weeks live here: youtube

Set an alarm, put it in your calendar but please do not miss it!

What I am talking about is AfCTFA. The African Continental Free Trade Agreement and Nigeria – one of the biggest economies in Africa and one of the most important countries worldwide has FINALLY signed it! It was the last country to join up during the recent African Union meeting in Niger last week but it has been done though President Buhari has his concerns of which I will talk about on the Fashion in Five series on Tuesday.

So here’s just 2 of the 5 points I raised during the Fashion in Five Live on Tuesday to why this is a big and necessary thing

1) This policy brings together a massive market of 1.2 billion people with a combined GDP of more than 2.2trillion dollars – so unity

2) For fashion this is great as it encourages inter-African trade – again unity – allowing free trade between African nations thus easing the movement of raw materials textiles and finished goods between countries. So for those who want to get cotton from say Ethiopia to Rwanda for example, or wax print from Ghana to Malawi this will allow more ease.

NOW I am not saying this will make it perfect and all will be completely problem free BUT this gives Africa more autonomy and the opportunity to increase its won GDP.

On that note Al Jazeera recently reported that whilst Global foreign direct investment FDI is down worldwide for 3 years in a row that in Africa it is defying the current slowdown. That “Global money is banking on African growth, reduced barriers to cross-border trade and affordable access to commodities”

Now can you SEE what I am seeing?

Seriously Africa IS the future AND the future of FASHION is AFRICA!

So we as business owners must pull our finger out and get on with it or we will lose our seat on this ride.

It is exciting times to really create and build your fashion business in Africa and our platform is here to encourage and motivate BUT to ultimately lead and equip you in doing so. Like a Jedi knight I am there to also tell you if you wanna go it alone then may the force be with you 🙂 but like the AfCTFA why not join in unity and do this together and let me support you with my growing community of businesses just like yours and even more with my community of experts.

With this said i would personally like to invite you to our annual event – Fashion Africa Conference. AND to celebrate our 9th year business anniversary with the Conference and Masterclass that follows the next day.
