Fashion and Textile Design Study Trips to Uganda – EDUCATION

Venture Uganda Travel and Ethnic Supplies Ltd are pleased to announce the introduction of a Fashion & Textiles study tour (13/9 nights).  This Venture Uganda fashion and textiles tour combines some of the fascinating aspects of Ugandan fashion and textiles with an amazing wildlife and cultural safari. Learn about traditional and contemporary clothing, fabrics, crafts, art and design while taking in the stunning scenery, animal and bird life and the wonderfully warm people. 

Venture Uganda has been running academic tours to Uganda for more than five years and has many regular, satisfied clients including the Universities of Manchester, London and Portsmouth and a number of schools including Groton School, US. The company offers tours for a range of disciplines such as development studies, geography, tourism and now fashion and textiles.  It also offers professional development courses for staff and a range of holidays including gorilla and chimp tracking, wildlife and cultural safaris, honeymoon, mountaineering and specialist bird watching tours.

Venture Uganda Travel is a Ugandan company, established by two friends, Lesley Harris and Byaruhanga Michael. Lesley is British but has lived and worked in Uganda for many years. She is a qualified teacher, with a background in UK universities and extensive experience of education and development work. Michael is ex-armed services personnel with experience in transport and logistics and is an executive member of the Uganda Safari Guides Association.

Ethnic Supplies is a UK based online social enterprise working with East African women involved in textile and handicraft production. Between them they have a broad network of contacts and knowledge of the country, which enables them to provide clients with access to a range of public and private sector organizations and local communities.

This tour is aimed at university students, of any level, or others with a general interest in the subject and provide an insight into traditional and contemporary Ugandan fashion, textile production and design, crafts, art and design. It also offers the opportunity to see some of Uganda’s stunning scenery, amazing wildlife and to meet some of the warm, friendly people. The tour is available to both universities and private groups.

Travel to Entebbe. Anna’s Corner crafts and hotel pool. Evening flight

Price: £1,310 per person

Includes: full board, twin or dorm accommodation, private safari vehicle with fuel and driver, all entrance and other fees for activities included in the itinerary, mineral water on long journeys.
