Africa Designers in Development, ADiD, will be organizing the East Africa Designer Gift Fair from 23rd to 24th November 2011 at the Village market, Nairobi. This particular event seeks to showcase designer gift items from bags to jewelry, paintings, clothes, fashion accessories and everything in between. The Gift fair comes soon after the much successful Bags and fashion accessories fair held in July 2011.

The motivation behind this event is majorly to raise awareness levels on the East African design potential from within out. East Africa’s design potential has largely been unappreciated due to a number of reasons chief among them apathy towards homegrown products, influx of sub-standard products mainly from Asia and the obvious preference for imports. ADiD seeks to change this mind set one step at a time through organizing themed East Africa Designer-EAD-Fairs.

ADiD envisions becoming the principle platform that will empower individuals through to businesses and institutes in order to create  sustainable, social and economic development.

The EAD fairs seek to bring together designers on a single platform where the best way forward will be charted while marketing our best and original designs to the whole world in addition to providing networking opportunities for designers and fashion enthusiasts. Over 20 designers will be exhibiting their best innovative products designed to meet refined tastes and preferences. Designers who will feature during this event include Water Colours by Ambica Shah, Rift Valley Leather, Sanabora Creations among others.

So choose your ideal gift item such as a bag, purse, a belt or a fantastic pair of sandals. Between the 23rd and 27th November, you will be spoilt for choice on what to get your family, friends, loved ones and maybe yourself for Christmas.

Go there to explore and appreciate Kenya’s design potential in the Old Exhibition hall at the Village market every day from 10am to 6pm.
