Design From Africa – The International Trade Centre Ethical Fashion Initiative calls African Fashion Designers!

We are excited about this recent callout to African designers that came to our inbox and so we are happy to share it with you.

Organised by the Ethical Fashion Initiative a segment of the International Trade Centre they are seeking designers to continue the fantastic work they have started in Africa. Their concept and work reflects 100% what we are doing with Africa Fashion Guide. They tell us that they “use fashion as a vehicle out of poverty, at the same time fulfilling fashion’s desire to be more fair.” that the “Ethical Fashion Initiative connects the fashion business with artisans in Africa and Haiti…provide work for marginalized people who have a strong desire to change their lives…make it possible for the fashion world to embrace the skills of artisans in the developing world.” And ultimately declare that “We are not a charity.”

So what is it they are doing now you ask? Read on.

Are you a fashion and/or accessories designer based in Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali, Nigeria or Senegal?

Do you have an established business which you want to see grow?

Do you have a vision for an international future?

The International Trade Centre’s Ethical Fashion Initiative facilitates sustainable trade for African fashion. We are seeking designers from the listed West African nations who have creative capacities and potential to expand their business while creating jobs for artisans and others in the domestic market.

Could that designer be you?
