SPEAKER NAME:

Daphne Kasambala

COMPANY:

Sapelle

BIO:

As an African Diasporan working in Corporate and Investment Banking in London, DAPHNE KASAMBALA was seeking ready-to-wear African brands making modern fashion pieces with a touch of Africa that she could wear with ease every day at work and play. When she saw a gap in the market for this type of product, Daphne took the plunge and established Sapelle in 2012.

Sapelle is a lifestyle brand offering beautifully designed contemporary Fashion, Home Decor and Gifts products that are inspired by Africa and ethically made by its skilled partners from around Africa. Every product created for Sapelle has a touch of unique African design and draws on centuries of art, heritage, culture and tradition, fusing these with contemporary design. The result is unique products with a distinctive, global, feel-good style.

Since launching with an online store, www.sapelle.com, Sapelle has featured brands offering a quality online shopping experience to customers around the world. In June 2015 the brand opened their UK boutique showroom at 281 Portobello Road, London.

This year Sapelle has partnered with lifestyle brands Nilare and Toghal to form an enlarged group offering a fuller Fashion, Home and Gift range under the banner Sapelle Group.
