CHICAGO-BASED AFRICAN DESIGNER KAHINDO MATEENE TO APPEAR ON SEASON 12 OF “PROJECT RUNWAY”

Kahindo Mateene, a Chicago-based Congolese Fashion Designer, will be appearing on season 12 of Project Runway premiering on Lifetime this Thursday, July 18 at 8PM CST.

Mateene was selected to participate as one of 16 designers to appear on Project Runway, Lifetime Television’s fashion focused reality competition. This Emmy-Nominated series is hosted by supermodel Heidi Klum alongside judges Zac Posen, Nina Garcia and mentor Tim Gunn. This 12th season is bigger and better than ever with a winner’s prize package worth an estimated half a million dollars.

I’m very excited to be selected to appear on Project Runway and show my design aesthetic to the millions of viewers as well as fashion industry experts. The exposure that my brand Modahnik will get from this amazing opportunity is huge, and will hopefully help me grow my brand,” Mateene exclaimed.

Kahindo Mateene established Modahnik in 2009, which is known for mixing bold prints and color and carried across retailers in Chicago, London and South Africa. Mateene’s inspiration comes from her Congolese African background and creates designs that are tailored, colorful, sophisticated with feminine details to make it modern.

MODAHNIK has been featured in WWD, Chicago Magazine, Chicago Sun-Times, Refinery 29 and on runways in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Johannesburg.
