Africa Fashion Week London and FAB Magazine Announce Partnership

Africa Fashion Week London (AFWL) and international fashion and lifestyle magazine FAB are delighted to announce their partnership in the run up to this year’s edition of AFWL scheduled to be held at London Spitalfields Market on 3rd and 4th August 2012.

Following the positive reception for last year’s event which attracted over 4000 visitors over two days, in a bid to make this year’s edition even more attractive to guests, designers and buyers alike, AFWL has not only relocated to Spitalfields which boasts a venue able to cater for 10,000 guests but also forged a partnership with one of the leading African fashion publications FAB.

“We are delighted to have on board a publication which does not only support and showcase African fashion and lifestyle globally but also believes in creating a platform for African designers from the Continent and the diaspora beyond its pages and works in conjunction with other African and mainstream media to promote African fashion events,” said Ronke Ademiluyi, founder and CEO of Africa Fashion Week London, of the partnership.

The two day event celebrates the work of African inspired designers in the UK; the event is the only event to dedicate its efforts to promoting and supporting inspiring talents from Africa. The annual event debuted in 2011 and welcomed 4,700 visitors and aims to be the single, biggest African fashion event in the UK.

Passionate about showcasing and celebrating the best of African fashion, FAB Magazine is keen to lend media support to ensure the ultimate success of this year’s event.

FAB Magazine is a unisex, dual covered, quarterly fashion and lifestyle magazine distributed in 8 countries (Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, UK, USA, Australia, Belgium and Germany). FAB Magazine is published in Lagos, Nigeria, with its main office in Victoria Island, Lagos and its editorial office in Milton Keynes, England.

“We are delighted to come on board as media partners and work towards making this year’s edition of AFWL even better than last year. As a publication which has consistently supported African fashion from the continent and the diaspora, we are excited about these two days which will give the London audience during one of the busiest summers the capital is likely to see a feel for African fashion,” said FAB Magazine Editor-in-Chief Sinem Bilen-Onabanjo.

The two-day event, which will see 50 international designers of African descent showcasing and exhibiting their work is set to attract 10,000 visitors each day and be the biggest fashion extravaganza to add pizzazz and style to the summer of Olympics.

Africa Fashion Week London (AFWL) is also proud to announce fashion and media experts Suby and Sinem are now on board to advise and guide the AFWL PR team in the run up to this year’s edition of AFWL. In a bid to build on the success of the first edition last year AFWL brings on board Suby and Sinem.

“Suby and Sinem have proven their expertise in the fashion business at the creative helm of FAB Magazine and also with their work for many other publications they have contributed to and continue working with and forged strong relationships with African and mainstream media as well as African and Black creatives in the industry. It is our wish, as AFWL, to harness their media expertise and creative energy to take Africa Fashion Week London to the next level,” said Ronke Ademiluyi.

The husband and wife team, who established themselves in the industry through their fashion photography business which they launched in 2005 and their work with leading African and international publications have recently partnered with high profile events and organisations in the role of PR consultants and continue to strengthen their PR and project management portfolio.

As Suby and Sinem, we are coming on board we believe in pushing all the positives about Africa, especially within the fashion industry. AFWL is a great concept created by Ronke Ademiluyi that has to be supported by Africans. We aim to make AFWL not just a world class African fashion event, but a world class fashion event,” said Suby, the co-founder of Subysphoto and the newly launched S Two PR.

Working in conjunction with the AFWL Team, Suby and Sinem aim to make this year’s two-day fashion extravaganza which is set to boast 60 international designers of African descent and 10,000 visitors each day a stellar success for the African fashion industry.
