AFG to host ‘Fashion Africa’ Seminar in Toronto’s First Africa Fashion Week Event

As part of the first Annual Africa Fashion Week Toronto, Social Enterprise Africa Fashion Guide invites you to their first North America edition of seminar event entitled “Fashion Africa”. This event will take place on Saturday August 17th at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre, located at 6 Garamond court, Toronto from 11 am to 2 pm.

Launched in London UK in 2011 and taken to Nairobi Kenya in 2012, this event aims at creating a social forum for all those attending to talk openly and share ideas, information and expertise, to raise awareness and elevate the perception of fashion design from the continent. The discussion will be centred around 2 themes :

1)   Fashion Business Africa – the importance of textile trade for Africa?

2)  Ethical Fashion – Why sustainable fashion is relevant to Africa 

The Guests speakers include fashion professionals, industry experts and influencers who all have a mutual interest, involvement and focus to elevate African textile trade, fashion design and production.

About Africa Fashion Guide

Launched in September 2011 along with a coffee table style contemporary fashion book entitled ‘Fashion Africa’, Africa Fashion Guide is an information based platform which aims at creating an awareness campaign that promotes the full supply chain of the African fashion and textile industry with an ethical perspective and create links with the greater global textile industry. In May 2013, AFG has successfully launched the “Fashion Africa Business Workshops” in London and is preparing a second edition that will take place in August with a webinar option.
