On September 8th 2016, Africa Fashion Guide hosts our 5th year anniversary Fashion Africa Conference event in London and we are extremely pleased to announce our cohort of professional industry speakers and encourage you not to delay but REGISTER NOW!

The full day 2016 Fashion Africa Conference event will be set out over 2 large rooms on the top floor of the Richmix, London and entitled The African Market will consist of TedX style keynote speeches in the morning, followed by afternoon panel discussions with international industry leaders and most importantly our first trade expo the F.A.T.E!!

Annegret Affolderbach, creative director & designer of Choolips, is an awardwinning Fashion Entrepreneur with wide reaching vision. Her passion for planet and people has seen her blossom into an influential social entrepreneur. Annegret is known for her visionary and pioneering work in sustainable fashion, especially engaging grassroots businesses across the African continent and India.

Her wise reaching experience, fondness for technology and her talent to inspire new ways of thinking have made her a sought after Public Speaker, Lecturer and Creative Consultant. Her work has appeared internationally in books, articles and studies speaking of frontiers of Sustainable Fashion and African Fashion Business. She has developed dream experiences for Coca Cola, designed campaigns for Lebara Mobile, diffusion lines for Topshop and Asos.com and has worked across the games, film and fashion world, styling and art directing, developing holographic textiles. Her brand Choolips is known for its taste making and innovative creation of artisanal collections applying ancient textile traditions.

Choolips has been categorised as pioneer for sustainable and fair fashion setting up sustainable supply chains and producing with entrepreneurial artisan businesses in West & East Africa, India and Europe. Choolips has been awarded ‘UK Young Fashion Entrepreneur of the Year 2009’ Finalist, British Council and ‘Barclays Innovative Business of the Year 2008’ Winner. 1st collection awarded ‘Global Commercial Dress & Print Design’/Ethical Fashion Forum’ and bought by Topshop to fly off shelves in 2007; resulting in diffusion lines for both TOPSHOP and ASOS.COM for 3 years growing its operations across Africa and Asia.

Annegret has travelled extensively in Africa, India, the US and Europe building broad networks across fashion & the creative industries. She has a penchant for beautiful words and has written her own column {sustain} as ‘fashion-E-ditor’ for Sustainable Fashion @ B2B platform Tribaspace. {sustain} looked at the journey of Eco/Sustainable Fashion, the businesses and the potent future it presents for our global Fashion Industry.

This panel will at where things are going in African fashion – from trends, textile technology, to entrepreneurship, manufacturing

options and production business parks to streetstyle, arts and the marketplace as a whole. How the African market

appeals more and more to investors abroad for new business ventures. Africa is also an opportunity for

existing businesses abroad to open up similar businesses there. Media and researchers are also recognising this and

we discuss what angle they are taking and the opportunity Africa has to offer.
