Eki Orleans launches their ‘Desert Horizon’ AW13 collection

Eki Orleans AW13 Collection Desert Horizons

Featured in our book Fashion Africa is one of Africa and the Diaspora’s original designers with a personal identity.

Eki Orleans’ AW13 collection is one that highlights the talent of designer Hazel Aggrey-Orleans to create beautiful clothing that allows the colorful goddess in all women to shine. This latest collection is named ‘Desert Horizon’, as the designer returned to nature and landscape for her inspiration.

The AW13 is a continuation of the last SS13 ‘Butterflies’ collection. It narrates a story of a journey from West Africa to the Sahara, taking form in the migration of butterflies towards the desert horizon. The journey starts in West Africa and on the prints you will see patterns reminiscent of the river Niger taking you up towards the Sahara desert to its north. The butterflies are strategically placed so they all gravitate towards the sun.

The designer chose earthy orange tones, as well as royal blues to reflect the landscape, sun and regal blue robes worn by the desert nomads. Eki Orleans’ interpretation through its prints draws on life and beauty in the desert.

What can i say…loving loving loving this collection.

With the crazy weather we are witnessing in London and New York right now this collection is totally refreshing and urging us to get out to the sun as soon as possible.
