EDUN colab Repurposed African Textiles Camo-Print Shoes

matt-bernson-edun-14

Socially conscious label Edun has a new collaboration for 2013 and this time its with Tribeca’s Matt Bernson who is well known for creating comfortable yet contemporary but very innovative shoes and has reimagined a rather cool collection for them.

It is a ready to wear collection composed of 6 styles and fits in line with Edun’s gorgeous spring ready-to-wear collection – one we loved here at AFG! It presents a camo urban feel by using canvas made in workshops in Kenya along with floral prints. Styles include platform silhouettes, booties, ballet flats, wedged sandals and loafers and has cool leather piping and cutout details.

A utilitarian collection of high end trends and smart look has been inspired by African prints and materials and using Kenyan tenting canvas, but the highlight is the etched florals, “two contrasting worlds brought together” along with two repeated motifs throughout the shoe collaboration. African tenting canvas, along with brushed-metal circle pulls have been made by artisans in Kenya’s Bombalulu workshop which sits right in with Eduns devotion and commitment to socially-responsible design.

Expected to launch in March 2013, this on point collection ranges between $165 and $235.

Check out the styles below and share your thoughts.
