A designer who inspired by having Creole heritage as well as her upbringing in Rome, Italian-Haitian designer Stella Jean strength lies in her way of merging both cultures with amazing and traditional wax prints along with fresh and modern shapes and silhouettes. Her winter collection continues in strength and has us completely consumed by colour and ladylike glamour. It is delicately styled and possesses strong prints that are obviously inspired by the African culture and people.

Stella Jean AW12  is based on “wax and stripes philosophy” . It “is made of a social mosaic composition in which multiculturalism is treated with a conciusness of traditions and a little bit of irony that creates a balanced blend, away from any caricaturely piece. A clear and sincere declaration of intent expressing a cultural metissage that breaks up and recreates itself in a unpredictable harmony. No latitudinal limit is placed to the combination of people and cultures, with the exception of a full agreement with a school of thought no longer based on a vanishing sens of style but on a “good sense of style”.
