Light a SPARK with Mayamiko and their upcoming fashion event!

01

Mayamiko together with their creative partners Slaves of the Extraordinary are proud to announce a second collaboration.  After the success of our last event ‘INSPIRED’, Mayamiko Trust and Slaves of the Extraordinary join forces once again for ’Spark.

The event will feature a night of up and coming ethical designers, musicians, performers and artists who are joining forces to raise money for Mayamiko’s work in Malawi.  The fashion showcase will include emerging ethical designers, Mayamiko Designed, MIA by Mia Nisbet and AFOL Milan Fashion School. Musicians include State of Bengal, Bam Bam Drum Band, Randolph Matthews and Michelle Cade, with performances from Slum Civilians and illustrations by Lisa Hawthorne.

Mayamiko Trust is a UK registered charity working to help people lift themselves out of poverty through trade and sustainable activities.  Mayamiko concentrates on providing skills training, education, nutrition, sanitation and promoting fairer trade practices.  Currently working with disadvantaged women on the Mayamiko Cotton Project in Malawi, the project provides training in sewing and tailoring to local women, who are affected by the HIV pandemic or are carers of HIV orphans.

Money raised from ‘Spark’ will fund the development and construction of a new skills and production centre for our trainees and tailors. We are currently running the ‘Bricks of Hope’ campaign to support this.

Their next charity fundraiser event – Spark, will take place on Friday 26th October at the Corbet Place, Truman Brewery, off Brick Lane.  This time they are at the opposite side of London, but it will still be an evening of fashion, music, dance, performances  - and as usual every penny we raise goes straight to Malawi.
I really hope you can make it, and I look forward to seeing you all. To book just follow the links below, or just go to www.mayamiko.org/sparkevent
