Association of Fashion Designers of Kenya introduce Safari Fashion Week – EVENT

Safari Fashion Week 2012

The Association of Fashion Designers of Kenya (AFAD-K) is a professional fashion organization designed to assist upcoming designers and fashion professionals to begin and advance their careers in the fashion industry. Their primary objective is to promote the fashion industry in Kenya and internationally. AFAD works to establish best practices in the industry by raising awareness on the need for excellence and high standards. Additionally, AFAD continues to promote excellence and leadership by setting industry standards, being active on key industry issues and supporting the next generation of leaders.

They have forged partnerships with organizations like the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) and African Cotton and Textile Federation; the apex bodies and single voice of the private sector boasting over many business members and countless other corporate organizations, whose strategic focus is advocacy on behalf of the private sector on high level national cross-cutting issues. The strength in diversity on membership associations representing both large and small enterprises under one umbrella, is positioning AFAD as an equal partner with government, in pursuit of an enabling business environment. Their voice is not only heard locally but also regionally as they strive to make inroads internationally. As a representative voice of their members, AFAD is ensuring that members needs and those of their stakeholders are properly reflected in our strategy.

AFAD facilitates conferences and workshops aimed at building capacity and empowering members. Entrepreneurship, quality control and quality assurance, trends, news and tips meetings allowing members to discuss new techniques and styles and ultimately holding fashion shows to showcase members garment designs and accessories among other similar benefits.

AFAD has brought individuals in fashion careers together, working under a constitution, for the advancement of the profession. AFAD strives to unify fashion designers and other industry stakeholders under common ground to represent their ideals in one voice.

As the official body and information hub in all matters fashion, AFAD is playing the pivotal role of assisting members to meet new people and establish networks of professional contacts, learn new techniques and technologies in fashion, land contracts, recruit suitably and show off their designs in the Safari Fashion Week the major fashion week body in Kenya, which is held every year in Kisumu, Eldoret, Mombasa , Mara and all culminating in Nairobi.

Safari Fashion Week 2012 will feature top Kenyan designers as well as upcoming designers and students of fashion all will grace the runway with distinctive Kenyan designs. And this year will happen on 3rd - 14th NOVEMBER, 2012 at KISUMU, MOMBASA AND NAIROBI.
