Mahlet Afework : Ethiopian Luxury Designer Showcases at Africa Fashion Week in New York

Ethiopian fashion brand Mafi presents a streetwise, sassy collection of urban sportswear and ready to wear garments for every woman to learn and love on Thursday, July 12th at Africa Fashion Week in New York (AFWNY) . AFWNY, a luxury multi-day event produced by Adirée, took place at the Broad Street Ballroom on July 12th, 13th, 14th in New York City’s financial District.

Ethiopian designer Mahlet Afework founded her line Mafi in 2007, at the age of 18 and 5 years later at Origin Africa, the young designer won herself an invite to the African Fashion Week New York. Her clothes—hip, chic, and funky, are designed for the fashion conscience women & men who seeks an edgy, trendy, and yet unique look for their wardrobe.

AFWNY includes runway shows hosting 21+ designers from various countries in Africa and those of the African Diaspora, exhibitions, and industry networking events. Opening designers Francis Hendy, Korto Momolu, and designers like Mafi, Attolle Collection, Geraldo Fashions and others will showcase.

Adirée, based in NYC, NY, focuses on event production, organization, and consulting for small to medium size clients in the areas of Fashion, Beauty and Home Decor.

      It appears that Mahlet is in the process of updating her website so its easy to locate her product at the moment. We are in touch with her and will put up updates as we get them including stockists etc
