Africa Fashion Week Los Angeles launches official Runway Model Search contest

AFWLA model search image

This Fall, a select number of Africa’s premier designers will invade the United States in headlining the inaugural Africa Fashion Week Los Angeles (AFWLA). Over the course of four days, from October 10-13th, this eclectic production will showcase designers from all over the continent—transforming Los Angeles into a hub of dynamic cultural exchanges and experiences. Building a diverse guest list that includes at least 1,000 dignitaries, celebrities (national and international) and a host of global citizens, AFWLA will set the standard for the ways in which African/African-inspired fashion is interpreted, regarded and revered; here in the United States, and beyond.

Africa Fashion Week Los Angeles was founded in response to the growing need in the Greater Los Angeles area to provide a platform for established and emerging African designers to showcase their talents to a broad audience, as well as to raise awareness about human rights issues that are currently being faced in several African countries.

AFWLA plans to enlist a host of Africa’s to runway models, but will also grant two (2) slots on the roster to other runway-ready female models. The overall focus of AFWLA is to promote and encourage exposure for all persons involved–designers, models, media entities, brands, etc. Please refer all interested persons to “like” the Facebook page and submit their photo(s) review.

A portion of all ticket sales and event proceeds will be donated to the MacDella Cooper Foundation, in support of its cause in offering resources to the many young men and women who benefit from her charity.

For additional information regarding AFWLA and to purchase tickets, visit www.afwla.org.
